Hooper’s Judge is gem of a gastropub located on the South Shore (of MA). Before opening its doors in 2025, it needed branding that matched its local Irish pub charm. In creating the pub’s warm & inviting identity, we put the spotlight on its namesake, Judge, the bull-and-terrier mix dog (owned by a man named Hooper) that is recognized as the ancestor of all Boston Terriers.

A balancing act.
Fun yet elevated, Hooper’s Judge is a place where you can feel just as comfortable ordering a high-end cocktail as you do a High Life. We balanced the pub’s classic charm and unexpected quirk through our hero, Judge, who himself balances a cocktail glass on his nose (which we imagine is an espresso martini).
Refreshingly Authentic.
We created a suite of illustrations to reflect the range of Hooper’s Judge offerings. Using an illustration style influenced by old, elaborate woodblock prints along with oval-shaped type characteristic of European blade signs, we sprinkled a warm and inviting dose of nostalgia throughout the pub. A simple yet refined color palette informed the interior paint any beyond.
